When I Grow Up – Fever Ray
Fever Ray is a new side-project from the folks in The Knife. I like it. The videos are suuuuuuper tribal and creepy, but I like them too.
Pitchfork just gave it “Best New Music“. Get on the hype while it’s fresh.

I’ve decided that I really like Kanye West as a person.
I’ve mentioned that I really like Kanye West’s new CD “808′s and Heartbreak”. Why? I like the melodies. Some of them are sooo catchy. Auto-tune? He’s using it for artistic effect, not to hide his obvious inability to sing. He’s not trying to trick anyone that he’s a good singer. He thinks it sounds cool. Opinions on whether or not it sounds cool may vary. I agree with him. Is he jumping on the Akon, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, etc. bandwagon? Kind of, but he isn’t using this fad to make club-bangers. He’s making this weird electro pop. Whatever. I’m into it.
So I like his tunes. I’ve always heard how insane and arrogant this guy is, but then I watched these videos on VBS.tv. Spike Jonze interviews him about various subjects. What made me like him is the fact that he’s very honest and sooo passionate about creating something great.
I found him inspiring (in a somewhat unrealistic sense). I’m inspired to create something great. I just don’t know what that is right now.
Bon Iver – Skinny Love
Mike B. brought this one to my attention.

Poached this one from Madge Kroeker. I was reminiscing about Paris earlier today, fooling around with Google Street View and found the Hostel that Madge and I stayed in last February. Made me quite nostalgic.

This guy picks a song and dances to it in an interesting location. I like it. Admittedly the premise starts to wear a bit thin halfway through a song but I find these videos to be very inspirational. I need more stuff like this in my life to motivate me.
I’m going away with my church Youth Group for the weekend. I’m placing a requirement on myself that I film some sort of funny little video thing. There. I’ve made you a promise. (“You” in this case is Tiffany Ratbones. You seem to be the only one who reads this anyways.)
