What to give up?

Ash Wednesday, which signifies the beginning of Lent, is in a few days.  As a new (Read: Trendy) Anglican (I’m looking into confirmation.) I’ve been doing this for the past couple of years with varying degrees of success.

Last year I gave up Facebook.com and Engadget.com.  It was tolerable but I think only because I was in Malta at that time.  Facebook is such a helpful organizational tool now that I’m home I think it would be hard to give up.

Some things I’m considering:

  1. Facebook.com
  2. Engadget.com
  3. Palatal Express/Thai Express/Thida’s Thai/Sawatdee Thai  (I raaaaaarely ever cook at home anymore.)
  4. Alcohol
  5. NetNewsWire (Which would mean giving up on all of the blogs I read.)
  6. Downloading TV Shows  (I waste 50% of my life doing this.)

Also rather than just giving things up I think I’m going to try to read more, pray more, be more healthy.  It’s like a New Years resolution but you only have to do it until Easter so it’s much easier.

  1. just confirming that you are infact trendy. (in the best way…?) do not give up thida’s thai.

  2. Ooo, NetNewsWire would be a tough on for me to, I don’t know what I would do during breakfast… or lunch… or when I get home from work.

  3. aalright, here are my criticisms of your list…

    1. and 2. old news, already done, waste of time.

    3. you’d die.

    4. possible.

    5. possible, but kind of not very important.

    6. pointless. imagine all the time spent catching up after easter? you’d have to go into hiding for awhile, and we all know that is impossible.

i say give up…spooning landen. it’s possible, healthy for you (and your plight to find a girlfriend) and will be a good warm-up to when you two are no longer in such close proximity. just my thoughts on the subject.

  4. Please do not give up video blogging. I would have nothing to live for. . .
