Get Rich Quick

I plan on doing a what-I’m-thankful-for thanksgiving post later but right now I’m going to talk about greed.

I was clearing tables at my serving job the other day when a special section of The National Post newspaper caught my attention.  It was a six page spread about Online Investing.  I saved that part, took it home and gave it a read-through.

My conclusion was that this was something I’d like to try my hand at.  However I don’t really have any disposable cash right now.  So I signed up for an online “game” called Wall Street Survivor.  It let’s you use pretend money to pretend to buy real stocks using real market data.

I bought 5 shares in Apple at $104.88 apiece.  As I’m writing this post they’ve gone up 5.13% and I’ve made a cool $26.90.

What I’m interested in is what will happen tomorrow after Apple’s big press conference.  They’re announcing new laptops and maybe some other things.  Analysts are expecting stock value to jump if they announce cool stuff or to drop even further if things are just so-so.

Anyways, I’m trying out some other fake stocks too.  For a couple of trades I just copied the guys ranked highly in the “game” section.  They must know what they’re doing.

The idea is that by the time I’ve saved a few dollars I will have learned enough to not completely waste my hard-earned scrilla.
